WAVERLEY EARNS A THREE-PEAT IN 2008!
WAVERLEY's U10 Wildcats won their 3rd TEE-BALL Tournament in a row.

WBCWEB Congratulates the Wildcat Team, the Coach Andrew Dunn, his group of Team Managers and parent helpers for a fantastic day of baseball. Third win in a row.  Fantastic, solid performance by a great bunch of kids. All demonstrating alot of enthusiasm, determination, skill and most importantly, enjoyment. Great to watch.

The Panthers (playing in the same Division as the Wildcats) fared well finishing 5th after their playoff - losing the one match to the Wildcats during the rounds.  Coach (Claudio Rodriguez) would like to sincerely thank Alex DaSilva (Assist Coach), Pat Hosking (Team Mgr), Lawrie DaSilva (Team Umpire), Scott Davidson & Kerry Delarue (Scorers) for all their efforts throughout the day.

The Cougars (Coached by Curt Huffman & Jim Katsoulos) also had an enjoyable day  - the 3rd Waverley team to participate in the playoffs. Great effort boys ! A big thank you to all the Cougar parents that helped out on the day. Greatly appreciated.

In summary, the Club has a lot to look forward to with the quality of players coming through the ranks.  High 5's to all the players on how well they handled themselves on and off the field.  Andrew, Curt and Jim need to be commended for how well they managed their teams in light of the short time frame had to select the players. A very big thank you to Neil Burke for his huge involvement and coaching throughout the whole selection trials. And to the Upwey Fertree Gully Baseball Club - Thank You and congratulations on hosting such a successful event.

Well done all of you!

WAVERLEY EXCELS IN TEE-BALL - 2006

Our CONGRATULATIONS to Coordinator Mike Kelly & Coach/Manager Chris 'Chipper' Maurer...

U10 Wildcats won the Teeball Tournament today [Sat 18th Feb].

The Cougars came 2nd & the Panthers came third in the 2nd division.

The 2006 Baseball Victoria U10 teeball tournament was held at the Upwey Ferntree Gully baseball club at Kings Park, Ferntree Gully. Waverley Baseball Club entered three teams in the tournament with Wildcats in division 1 and Panthers and Cougars both starting in Div 2. In addition to Waverley Wildcats, other clubs to enter teams in division 1 included Cheltenham Rustlers, Sandringham Royals, Malvern and the host club Upwey Tigers. Division 2, with a total of 16 teams was split into Pool A and Pool B for the day.
The day proved to be an outstanding success for the club with both the Wildcats and the Panthers finishing the tournament undefeated and the Cougars going through to the finals undefeated. This result is testament to the enthusiasm, skill and team work shown by every player in each of the three teams and the commitment from our three coaches, Chris "Chipper" Maurer, coach of the Wildcats, Tim Puyk, coach of the Panthers and Graeme Ellis coach of the Cougars. Many others also helped out with assistant coaching, umpiring, team managing, scoring and supporting. It is only this participation that enables us to field teams in these competitions and judging by the smiles on the faces of all the players makes it all worth while at the end of the day. The grand final in division one was contested by Waverley and Cheltenham with Waverley Wildcats proving too strong in a convincing 25 to 19 victory.
Congratulations to each player in the tournament. You were all outstanding representatives of the Waverley Baseball Club.

Thanks & Regards

Mike Kelly

U10 Report - 2004

2003/2004 saw a very successful U10 program, which not only grew in numbers but in stature.

This season saw 12 teams participating in our domestic program embracing quality coaching and developmental opportunities.

The pinnacle of the program was the selection of three teams to represent Waverley at the U10 State Championships, the Wildcats, Panthers and the Cougars.  All teams represented the Club impeccably with the Wildcats triumphant in bringing home the trophy.  Waverley is now the home of the U10 State Champions, capping off a magnificent year at the U10 level.
