I started playing baseball in 1960 for
Cheltenham. When my son decided to take up the game in 1992, I chose
Waverley, as we live nearby and the junior program was renowned. The
next 6 years were spent as age group coordinator for U12, U14 &
U16’s and did a lot of Team Managing, Assisting Coaches and Umpiring
for various Panther Rep and Domestic Teams. I was also a member of
the Junior Committee for many years.
In 1996 I began playing senior ball for Waverley in “Old Blokes”
side. I have “Managed” teams over the years and have now played over
260 games. I have been on the Board for 6 years in total, 2 as
Secretary, 2 as Treasurer, with another 2 as a general member.
Secured the name “Waverley
Reds” for Club use, and served as the
Waverley Representative to Bingo International fundraiser. As my
wife says “You shouldn’t criticize if you’re not prepared to do
something”, so here I am back again! |
Julie has been
involved with the WBC as a parent for the past 15 years. She
was an assistant coordinator and then a coordinator on the
junior committee before joining the Board as the Director of
Juniors. This will be Julie's sixth year on the Board.
Although her sons are now too old for juniors, Julie is
still very enthusiastic about being involved in the ongoing
development of the junior program. She is very keen for as
many children as possible to experience the fun of playing
baseball and achieving at their personal best level.
